Kitchen Ideas

Just a few of the pictures I have in my file of home ideas that I want to share.

All of the kitchens have an element or more that I like.
In the above one it is the openness of the room.

This one has lots of drawers.  I think they fit my life style better than cabinets with doors.

The lighting, the different colors in the cabinets, the cabinet style all appeal to me.

This is an old photo, maybe from Colonial Holmes.
I like the old cabinet with the new.

Another older cabinet with new cabinets.  Not sure about the color combination.

White painted cabinets but the glass doors keeps it from being too white.

More glass doors.  Love the window and view.

Light blue back splash subway tiles.  They add some punch.

I think this is Sally Wheat's kitchen.  Much to love about it.
Island detail, cabinet color, sink, cabinet detail on upper units,
door style.  I doubt if I would do the open shelves but it looks lovely.

White done well.

Another older photo that is of a flower/mud room.  Cute.

A modern take on a white kitchen.  Tile breaks up the too much white look.
 Open shelves help too.

I do not know why this Happened

Blog has been removed

Sorry, the blog at lifeonthefarmandotherwarstories.blogspot.com has
been removed.
This address is not available for new blogs.

So far this one is still working.  I do not post to this often as I just have never done much with the one that was to be the design blog.

Nicholas Mosse

I have a small collection of the red tulip pattern made by Nicholas Mosse.  I buy some on eBay, some I have picked up in a store that no longer is in business in Minneapolis, and the first piece is one I got in Galena, Illinois a long time ago.

I have a shelf in the eating area.  This piece is an eBay one that I got last year.
The picture is a favorite one of Sage.  He has a small cut on his forehead.
I rather like the the fact that it was not photo shopped out.
I have three mugs that are different patterns.  This one is a garden theme.
The other two are different ones that feature pigs.
One was a gift.  I found the other on eBay, bid and won it.

Laundry Room

Laundry room art work.

This is the room just off the back door (to the left).

I think the washer and dryer need a mouth then they would look like a happy face.

OK this is what it really looks like.  And sometimes it looks worse.  But it functions well.  The cabinet holds ribbon, tape, batteries, and lots of other stuff.

My laundry is far from a dream room. Mine would have a sink, an ironing board, a place for my sewing machine, a rod to hand clothing as it comes out of the dryer, with lots of cupboards and counter space. In the mean time this will just have to suffice. A laundry room is full of loads of love.

Condo Living

When my folks were getting ready to move into their condo Mom asked me to help her decorate.  Her wish was that we use a new lamp as inspiration.  This lamp is the one seen below. Paint, new furniture, window treatments, and accessories played of that lamp.  The condo was fairly new so the flooring and lighting were to remain.  All of the furniture in the living and dining room is new.  So that she could get an idea of what furniture would fit I made cardboard and paper mock ups of the pieces she was wanting.  I was able to convince her that the end tables needed to be this large.

This is the eating area looking in to the living room.  She is getting ready to have some friends in for lunch the day this photo was taken.

I will post more of the room soon as this does not show the breakfront and a couple of chairs in the living area.

Painted Fireplace

This is an unstyled photo of the fireplace in our living room. The fireplace was cleaned and painted before I used either a stencil brush or a rag to add texture. Before I painted the bricks , they went more with the carpet (that will go sometime - I hope). The bricks had a textured surface that came off when I tried to clean the soot off the bricks.

A close up
Another close up of the paint job.
